前言

在過去兩年中，人工智能技術的迅猛發展對翻譯工具產生了深遠的影響。
本期特意挑選了四款翻譯工具以及一個AI翻譯工具，
對其性能進行評測，看看在AI技術的加持下，它們的質量提升如何。
以下是參賽選手的簡介：

1. 谷歌翻譯
   谷歌翻譯自2006年推出以來，一直是全球最受歡迎的翻譯工具，穩居翻譯工具的領導地位。
2. 必應翻譯
   必應翻譯憑藉其穩定可靠的翻譯質量，以及與微軟生態系統的高度集成，贏得了眾多用户的青睞。
3. DeepL翻譯
   DeepL是近年來崛起的一款新興翻譯工具，以其高質量的翻譯效果而著稱，備受歡迎。
4. 百度翻譯
   百度翻譯是國內翻譯工具的領跑者，提供多樣的翻譯服務以滿足用户需求。
5. AI谷歌翻譯
   AI谷歌翻譯採用了谷歌的AI模型Gemini，進行純AI翻譯。

比賽內容

本期比賽的內容為：中文翻譯成英文。
為什麼要採用中譯英呢？
主要是因為中文博大精深，擁有豐富的修辭手法和隱晦的比喻，這使得許多翻譯工具在處理時難度更大。
經過慎重考慮，我們最終選定了周星馳電影《鹿鼎記》中的一段經典台詞作為此次比賽的內容，如下圖所示。

卑職對韋大人的景仰，
真如滔滔江水，連綿不絕，
又有如黃河氾濫，一發不可收拾，對不對

這段台詞難翻譯的點在於滔滔江水的修辭手法，其隱喻的是：長江。
還有一發不可收拾這個詞彙需要結合前面的黃河來進行準確的翻譯。
接下來，讓我們逐一請出參加比賽的選手來進行較量。

比賽結果

1. 谷歌翻譯

My admiration for Mr. Wei is like the surging river, which is endless,
and like the flooding of the Yellow River, which is out of control, right?

翻譯結果中的 滔滔江水 譯成了surging river，沒有發現隱喻。
而 一發不可收拾 譯成了which is out of control，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確，不過簡單了點。

2. 必應翻譯

Humble admiration for Lord Wei.
It's really like a surging river, endless,
It's like the Yellow River flooding, and it's out of control, right?

翻譯結果的第一行就錯了，卑職的景仰 譯成了 Humble admiration（卑微的景仰），
其中的 滔滔江水 譯成了surging river，沒有發現隱喻。
最後的 一發不可收拾 譯成了which is out of control，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確，不過也還是簡單了點。

3. DeepL翻譯

My humble admiration for Ta-Jen Wei.
It's like a torrential river, unceasing and unending.
It's like the Yellow River flooding, uncontrollable, isn't it?

翻譯結果的第一行就錯大力了，卑職的景仰 譯成了My humble admiration（我卑微的景仰），就連後面的韋大人也譯錯了。
其中的 滔滔江水 譯成了torrential river，沒有發現隱喻，但它形容詞比較好點，用了unceasing and unending
最後的一發不可收拾 譯成了uncontrollable，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確，不過更簡單了。

4.百度翻譯

第一版本是百度的機器翻譯

My humble duty's admiration for Lord Wei.
Like the surging river water, continuous and endless,
It's like the Yellow River flooding, it's unstoppable, isn't it

翻譯結果的第一行真是一眼就看出是一字一字地機器翻譯。
其中的 滔滔江水 譯成surging river water，也是一字一字的機器翻譯，
最後的 一發不可收拾 譯成it's unstoppable，沒有結合前面的黃河來譯。

再來看下百度AI翻譯的結果

I hold great admiration for Mr. Wei.
It is truly like the surging river, continuous and unending.
It's like the Yellow River flooding, which is out of control, right.

這個版本的翻譯結果相對好些。
其中的 滔滔江水 譯成surging river，沒有發現隱喻，但它形容詞比較好點，用了continuous and unending
最後的 一發不可收拾 譯成which is out of control，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確，不過也是很簡單了。

5. AI谷歌翻譯

在這裏我們採用了來自 min2k 的AI谷歌翻譯，
因為它同時集成了 Gemini 和 GPT 雙模型翻譯，可以額外做一個對比。

譯文1是Gemini 1.5的翻譯結果

My admiration for Lord Wei,
is like the endless flow of a mighty river,
and like the unstoppable flood of the Yellow River,
it cannot be contained. isn't that right?

其中的 滔滔江水 譯成mighty river，沒有發現隱喻，
最後的 一發不可收拾 譯成it cannot be contained(它無法被遏制)，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確，不過也是簡單。

譯文2是GPT 4的翻譯結果

My admiration for Lord Wei is truly like
the endless flow of the Yangtze River, unceasing andcontinuous;

Am l right?

其中的 滔滔江水 譯成Yangtze river，發現了隱喻！
最後的 一發不可收拾 譯成once it starts, it cannot be contained.(一旦開始，它就無法遏制)，有結合前面的黃河來譯，結果正確而且用詞準確！

比賽總結

這兩年來，四個翻譯工具相較之前的機器翻譯質量都有顯著提升，
它們基本上能夠根據前文正確譯出“一發不可收拾”的含義。
可惜的是，對於“滔滔江水”的隱喻，仍然存在識別上的不足，期待未來能夠有更進一步的改進。

可喜的是，在使用 min2k 的 AI谷歌翻譯時，
儘管其 Gemini 模型的表現還有待提升，
但 GPT 模型的翻譯結果卻表現得相當準確，這讓人們對未來的翻譯技術充滿期待。
